Lost Pet

My pet is lost. What should I do?

Act Fast!

  1. Visit the Humane Society of Weld County to fill out a lost report and walk through our facility to see if your pet is already here. Bring your photo ID, a picture of your pet and proof of ownership (veterinary records, rabies certificate, or a city license)
  2. Repeat Step 2 every 1-2 days. After 5 days the animal becomes the property of the Humane Society of Weld County. We cannot identify your pet over the phone.
  3. Browse through the Lost Animals that are at our shelter. Please be aware that not all animals at our facility may be listed on this page. It is the owner's responsibility to visit in person to identify their pet.

Redemption fees apply when reclaiming your pet and these fees increase daily so please visit us frequently.

Our Hours:
Monday through Friday: 11:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M.
Saturday-Sunday: 11:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

We stop processing adoptions, return to owners, and animal intakes one hour prior to closing.

After visiting the Humane Society of Weld County, we suggest taking the following steps:

bullet If your animal is microchipped, contact your microchip company to report your animal is missing and update your contact infomation.

bullet Search the area where your pet was lost and let neighbors know your pet is missing.

bullet Post fliers in the area you saw your pet (local convenience stores, veterinary clinics, post offices). Also post a flyer on our Lost & Found board in our lobby.

bullet Post an ad in the Greeley Tribune: Lost & Found ads are free for one week. Don't forget to also check the paper daily for Found ads for possible matches.

bullet Check with your local law enforcement to verify where a found pet is taken in your area. Please keep in mind that if your city does not contract with us there is still a chance that they could be at our shelter, or someone may have called to inform us of a found pet.

bullet Check with other shelters along the Front Range:

    a. Larimer Humane Society: (970) 226-3647
    b. Longmont Humane Society: (303) 772-1232
    c. Adam's County Animal Shelter: (303) 288-4290
