Lost a Pet
My pet is lost. What should I do?
Visit the Humane Society of Weld County to fill out a lost report and walk through our facility to see if your pet is already here. Bring your photo ID, a picture of your pet and proof of ownership (veterinary records, rabies certificate, or a city license)
Repeat Step 2 every 1-2 days. After 5 days the animal becomes the property of the Humane Society of Weld County. We cannot identify your pet over the phone.
Browse through the Lost Animals View that are at our shelter. Please be aware that not all animals at our facility may be listed on this page. It is the owner's responsibility to visit in person to identify their pet.
Redemption fees apply when reclaiming your pet and these fees increase daily so please visit us frequently.

After visiting the Humane Society of Weld County, we suggest taking the following steps:
If your animal is microchipped, contact your microchip company to report your animal is missing and update your contact information.
Search the area where your pet was lost and let neighbors know your pet is missing.
Post fliers in the area you saw your pet (local convenience stores, veterinary clinics, post offices). Also post a flyer on our Lost & Found board in our lobby.
Post an ad in the Greeley Tribune: Lost & Found ads are free for one week. Don't forget to also check the paper daily for Found ads for possible matches.
Check with your local law enforcement to verify where a found pet is taken in your area. Please keep in mind that if your city does not contract with us there is still a chance that they could be at our shelter, or someone may have called to inform us of a found pet.
